When creating a Template or Task, you may have noticed that Steps have something called "Importance". And when completing a Task you may also have seen that some Steps are labelled "Essential" and have different coloured circles around the ticks and crosses.

Being able to set Steps as essential is one of the key points of beSlick. In short, Essential Steps have to be completed for the task to be completed - but if you can't do one of these steps you have to say why.

Watch this video to see Alister talking about why steps don't always have to be completed.

More about Essential Steps

Essential Steps need to be completed before the whole Task can be completed. However, beSlick doesn't want to force people to tick off tasks if they are not possible or appropriate to do. If this is the case, you click the cross icon and enter a reason why this step couldn't be completed at this time.

When to use Essential Steps

beSlick customers use Essential Steps to indicate the Steps that absolutely have to be done. Perhaps they relate to compliance, or a critical activity, or a milestone in a project.

Inside a Task or on the Template Report you can choose to just see Essential Steps so you can monitor progress of these importance activities.
